Well… it’s here. The last year of my twenties. I have some mixed feelings about it but mostly I’m excited. My twenties didn’t go at all how I had imagined but, one thing I’ve realized is life never does. Being in your twenties for me meant experiencing adulthood, traveling, going through learning experiences, learning how to understand myself and the last two years a TON of personal growth. I believe your twenties really are about finding yourself and that’s where you begin to discover your purpose.
So now I’m here rounding out the last year of figuring out who I am and what I want out of life. I knew I was always a procrastinator but geez I really did take it down to the wire on this one! Like I’ve said I tend to take scenic routes. I’ve been fortunate to have my heart humbled and realize desires that have been placed there. I’m still figuring out how I can intertwine them all together and make a larger impact but I still have time for that!
A few things I have realized is I have a desire to give back and by any means possible. Financially I’m not in a place where I can pour my income back into a greater good yet… however, I do have lots of time and skills that could be beneficial. I plan on using those to brighten up people in need. I’ve also realized less is more. When I think about my future and where I envision myself I don’t think I need a big beautiful home or the latest designer shoes. If you like things like that that’s totally ok! It’s just something I realize I can live without. I’d rather spend money on experiences and adventures.
I’ve also decided it’s time to make a list of life goals. It’s pretty small now but I’d like to have 100 items that I am determined to check off through the rest of my life. My list ranges from personal, family to business. A few examples are: I want to start a not-for-profit. Fund a group mission trip. Get scuba certified. Use my certification and see the Great Barrier Reef. Swim with sharks. Run a half marathon. Visit every continent. Anyway you get the idea! Lots of exciting things to be done and life goals. Maybe you’re not 30 yet maybe you are. Either way it’s never too early or late to start a life goal list. We all have a greater purpose than just existing but why not make the most of it while you’re here?! Don’t forget to celebrate your small wins too! I don’t care if you finally made your bed a week straight and that’s been a goal for you. Go celebrate it! Celebrating is the best part. I’ve been celebrating my birthday a lot this past week and now that it’s over I’ve decided I’m not done celebrating it. I’m gonna keep the party going.
It’s almost a new month. Don’t wait for the new year to start a list of goals and dreams. Start now. Get your mind right going into this next month and you’ll be ready to blaze a trail January 1st. Also, never forget to be thankful for what you have and be fearless for the life you want. Cheers!
